“In bariatric, patient care does not begin or end with surgery. The important components of comprehensive care of an individual include
4. Follow up
Education – Probably the most important tool for success of surgery is patient’s understanding of mechanism and required lifestyle modifications. This is a continuous process starting from 1st interaction with CMS team. Dr Goel’s insistence to explain each step of preparation, surgical steps, risks and post op requirements ensures smoother and superior compliance. Support group meetings are held quarterly & cover varied topics like high protein foods, fibre, supplements, role of exercise, behavioural modification etc. The meetings are recorded & made accessible for the benefit of outstation patients
Availability – All patients have the team’s personal cell & email details (including the bariatric surgeon). They are encouraged to communicate with CMS team members, whenever required. Follow up patients are also supported through messages & reminder mails to follow healthy lifestyle.
Effectiveness – CMS team led by Dr Ramen Goel has the knowledge, understanding & experience in managing post surgery patients. This ensures better outcomes in most patients.
Follow up – Enough emphasis is given on follow ups either in physical form or digitally. Dr Goel makes it a point to personally consult all patients during their follow up visits. We at CMS take pride in our high follow up rates. Our support group meetings are large events with usual attendance of over 100-150 operated bariatric patients.
The re-operation rate of Dr Ramen Goel’s patients is extremely low – almost negligible. He attributes this to empowering of patients with the knowledge of how surgery works & lifestyle modifications required after surgery.
